Diary Entry: Went to No 2 T.C.M.T. Cordwalles Camberley. Diary notes: Given KPD’s later military career, the T.C.M.T. may stand for “Tactical Communication Maintenance Technician” & so have been linked to training for motorized transport, which she worked in during her A.T.S. service.

Diary Entry: March Past with band. Talk by C.O. C. coy concert. Diary notes: ‘C.O.’ was the Commanding officer of ‘C’ Company.

Diary Entry: Returned Guildford. Diary notes: Given that KPD’s last job in a school, at Cumnor House School, had been close to Guildford (where the school had been evacuated to), she probably enjoyed being based there for her training.

Diary Entry: Tea with Lewis’ Diary notes: The Lewis’ were a family KPD worked for as a nanny, who became friends in Crofton, near Farnborough, living at Orchard Cottage. Apparently KPD got to drive their Bentley!

Diary Entry: Went home for 48 hours leave. Peggy there. Diary notes: Peggy Dell – Anthony (KPD’s brother) had married Peggy (1910 – 1991), his first wife and mother of his two children, Grahame & Jennifer, in 1936.

Diary Entry: Tea with Mollie at Fullers. Diary notes: ‘Mollie’ is probably ‘Mollie Browning’, a friend of KPD since the mid-1930s. ‘Fullers’ must have been a café, probbaly in Guildford.

Diary Entry: Mollie Browning came over to tea at the N.A.A.F.I. Diary notes: The N.A.A.F.I.
