Diary Entry: Lunch Swan. Diary notes: The Swan, which may be the 16th Century inn at Taporley near Chester, was a regular eating place for KPD in those days.

Diary Entry: Went for night to Chester. Bad cold. Diary notes: Chester, not far from Gresford, was somewhere KPD visited quite often, sometimes to go to the theatre.

Diary Entry: Went on convoy (driving) to Shrewsbury to evacuate vehicles. Nan Poynter posted to Bristol. Diary notes: From this, and later posts, it is clear that the A.T.S. in Gresford was being reorganised. Nan Poynter had been a friend, now being posted elsewhere. Such developments must have been common in wartime.
