Diary Entry: Took S/C (?) Himpton to Worley & froze. Diary note: Cars in the 1940s were often quite open, and even if closed did not have the level of comfort later generations are used to. ‘Freezing’ was probably a common occurrence.

Diary Entry: Duty driver. Took Rev. Knight to Braintree, Chelmsford, Epping Tea Thatched House Hotel Breakdown on way back. Got lost. Late back & to Chelmsford & back 12.15. Diary Entry: Packed. Went Rhyl for night Diary notes: KDP had friends (‘Nan Richards’ and the ‘Dowells’) living in Rhyl, and around this time went there quite often. This is the last time she mentions Rhyl in her diaries, presumably because she was posted away.
