Diary Entry: Rushes. Called Anthony. Diary notes: Anthony, KPD’s closest brother, had volunteered (for the Territorials) before war was declared he had already been called up. He served in the Royal Artillery (anti-Aircraft guns), and ended the war as an Acting Major.

Diary Entry: Bathed Marcia Bridget [Pitt]. Christened 4pm. Biked to Cuham with Mark. Late back. Diary notes: Culham, near Abingdon, is less than 5 miles from Long Wittenham. As so often KPD took the opportunity to go for a bicycle ride when she could.
