Diary Entry: Took Mrs Mills to tea Brunners. Diary notes: ‘Mrs Mills’ was a friend KPD saw, and went to the cinema with, for a number of years before and during WW2. The ‘Brunners’ seem to have been friends of KPD and the group of ‘nannies’ & former nannies she was friendly with.

Diary Entry: ” Angela Everett started mumps. Several cases of ‘flu already”. Diary notes: In the pre-antibiotic age such diseases as influenza were serious and could kill. KPD’s worries about children in her care was not exaggerated.
