Diary Entry: Went to Ewhurst for tea & supper. Dairy notes: Ewhurst is a village about 16 miles from Seale. The Davies’, who seem to have been two sisters, Janet & (name unknown) – friends of KPD, perhaps ones she met through one of her jobs, lived there.

Diary Entry: Went to Bosham & spent day with Betty Hughes, saw Anthony, Christopher & Elizabeth. Diary notes: Bosham, a small coastal village near Chichester, was not far from where KPD’s family had lived early in the 20th Century. Betty Hughes was a friend from that time.

Diary Entry: Went to Berkhamsted, lunch Smallwoods, tea Coldharbour. To stay the Gardners, Abbots Langley. Diary notes: KPD had lived in Berkhamsted with her parents from 1914-26, she had gone to school there; the Dells still had friends in the area.
