Diary Entry: Went to lunch at Thornton Heath with Enid & Barbara, Errol & Judith, Rosemary & Dearie.
Diary notes:
Thornton Heath is a suburb of south London, part of Croydon.
Enid and Barbara were relatives of KPD’s father (Henry Dell) and sisters; Errol and Judith were Enid ‘s children (born 1934 and 1939 respectively); Rosemary (born 1938) was Barbara’s daughter. ‘Dearie’ remains unidentified.
I can identify Dearie. She was Enid and Barbara’s mother, my grandmother.
She lived in Hucclecote, Gloucester with Barbara and her husband Tommy Hodder. My mother, Erroll and I (Judith) went to live with them during the war, form about 1941 until my Father returned from the war in late 1945.

Thanks Judy, that’s a great addition to my knowledge. When l get home (we’re away for a week at our son’s home near Newcastle) l will amend the master copy of KPD’s diary with a footnote to identify your grandmother.
Thanks again,
Giles
